Once in a Lifetime - 2007
Fifth Place Regional Quartet Medalists!
Once
in a Lifetime is (left to right): Lynne Stern, tenor; Erin Parks,
lead; Jan Meyer, baritone; and Robbie Cooper, bass. The four voices
combine for more than 80 years of barbershop quartet experience,
and the group has sung together since 1998.
When we got together, we thought we would compete
just once since Robbie was anticipating a long-distance move--
hence
the name, Once in a Lifetime. However, Robbie's plans changed,
and our one-time contest appearance has turned into 10 years of
friendship,
fun, and music. The name has new significance for us, as we realize
that this sort of "we share one brain, and it's a left one"
connection can only happen once!
With a varied repertoire that includes familiar standards,
contemporary pop, gospel, and patriotic numbers, we have entertained
audiences at national and state conventions, community concerts,
church services, private parties, and business and organizational
gatherings. Our style is smooth and sophisticated, but we can also
be wickedly funny or soulfully reverent.
The quartet competes annually with 30+ quartets in
a 5-state region of Sweet Adelines International and is a five-time
top-five medalist. We have also enjoyed competing
in the Buckeye Invitationsal quartet contest twice.

LITTLE ABOUT US:
Our friends will tell you we're all perfectionists,
more than a little picky about doing things right, and definitely
left-brained! However, we spend lots of rehearsal time laughing
and sharing the crazy moments of our lives--and there are
plenty of them! Kids, husbands, pets, jobs, church activities,
and our barbershop hobby keep all of us hopping.
Lynne Stern (tenor) is married to Richard
and mom to Natalie and Ricky. She's an echo technician for
a large cardiology office in Indianapolis.
Erin Parks (lead) is married to John and mom to Brendan
, Patrick, and Kieran. She teaches at Fishers Junior High
School.
Jan Meyer (baritone) is married to John and
mom to grown sons Dan and Kevin. She volunteers as a bookkeeper
in her church, and is a Certified Music Judge for Sweet Adelines
International. The quartet enjoys singing several of Jan's
arrangements.
Robbie Cooper (bass) is married to Jim and
mom to grown children Ryan and Chris. She'll show you photos
of her two beautiful
grandchildren if you twist her arm.

Here we are, immediately following the
2006
Sweet Adelines Region 4 Contest, proudly showing off our
third place ribbons.

It was our pleasure to sing on Region
4's 2005 Show of Champions at the post-competition afterglow.
