Some additional information about the ManualAires, from Director Spencer Lloyd:

"Manual has been a pillar in the Southside community since it opened in its current location in the mid 1950?s. Beginning with the opening of the new building, Manual was known around the city for outstanding music ensembles of every type. However, due to budget cuts, and a lack of value for the arts in the mid-to-late 80's, the music program at Manual was drastically reduced to the point of non-existence.

In 2009, Mr. Lloyd was hired to lead the choral music department at Manual and had only 12 students signed up for his choir. After only 3 short years, the program has grown to over 80 students in two choirs. When Mr. Lloyd was looking for a name for his select group, a building administrator suggested the resurrection of the name, which so many years before had garnered praise and accolades from the greater Indianapolis community.

So it was - The ManualAires were reborn in Lloyd's second year of teaching. In two short years, The MaunualAires have quickly become a sought-after high school performing arts group in and around Indianapolis. They have been featured onstage with Foreigner, at Verizon Wireless Music Center, performed at Dr. Bennett's State of Education Address, will perform with Indianapolis Symphonic Choir, and in February will appear onstage in Carnegie Hall.

The ManualAires count it a high honor to be invited to share the stage with the Capital City Chorus, and believe this will be the beginning of a long and prosperous relationship between two choral ensembles who embrace excellence as a core value as we strive to reassert the arts and their importance in the daily lives of the people of Indianapolis."
