Regional Competitions
The Sweet Adelines organization is currently divided into 35 regions around the world. Capital City Chorus is part of Region #4 which includes part of Indiana, part of Ohio, and all of Kentucky and West Virginia. Every spring, usually in early April, choruses and quartets from across Region #4 gather at the Region #4 Convention and Competition. The winning chorus and quartet from Region #4 each year is invited to compete at an upcoming SAI International Convention. Region #4 is considered to be one of the toughest regions, with choruses and quartets from the region frequently placing in the top 10 of their respective International competitions.
Since 2001, Capital City Chorus has consistently placed 2nd or 3rd at each Region #4 competition in which they were being judged. During years when CCC was going to the International competition, they performed for evaluation only. Three separate times CCC's second place score was among the top 5 second place scores around the world that spring, qualifying Capital City to compete at International competition as a "wild card" entry. In many of the past several years, CCC's score would have actually won the competition in many other regions, attesting to the high level of competition in Region #4.
