2007 SAI International Competition - Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Capital City placed 12th at the 2007 Sweet Adelines International Competition in Calgary, Alberta, Canada October 9 - 13. At this competition Capital City Chorus sang "South Rampart Street Parade" and "Oh, How I Miss You Tonight". Capital City had 96 on stage and scored a total of 1235 points which placed them 12th out of the 34 choruses who competed. Harborlites was the winning chorus. Also competing from Region #4 was Pride of Kentucky chorus, which placed 11th and Moxie Ladies quartet, who finished 4th in the quartet competition.
It was Capital City members' first opportunity to travel outside the United States for a competition. That presented some challenges, especially with the tightened rules requiring passports to travel to Canada, and trying to pack all the types of clothes that might be needed "up north".Members were able to get the necessary paperwork and successfully arrived. Most came early enough to get to tour the beautiful areas in and around Calgary, including Banff and Lake Louise. Some members found it more challenging to return to the US, however, since they ran into travel delays resulting in it taking 2 full days to get home! However, the majority of CCC members thoroughly enjoyed our international experience!
