About Us
A dynamic womens show chorus, Capital City Chorus performs at private and public events throughout the Central Indiana area, and also presents its own musical cabarets and stage shows.
Capital City Chorus is a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, a world-wide organization of women singers committed to advancing the musical art form of barbershop harmony through education and performance, with more than 650 choruses in 13 countries.
Vision Statement: Changing lives... one performance at a time!
Mission Statement: The Capital City Chorus is committed to creating musical excellence in a warm, caring and supportive environment which encourages the growth and development of each member through education, performance and competition.
Capital City Chorus (CCC) is Indiana's premiere show chorus for women. This local chapter of Sweet Adelines International (SAI) was founded in 1956 and has entertained audiences throughout the Midwest with its special brand of four-part harmony.
A driving goal of CCC is to be a Fabulous Performing Chorus! Weekly rehearsals, private vocal instruction for members, dance lessons, public performances and competition with other barbershop groups help the chorus reach toward that goal. Performances feature a wide variety of music, including old standards, Broadway show-stoppers, contemporary pop and country, gospel, patriotic numbers and jazz -- which give audiences a high-quality, high-energy performance that will leave them smiling and humming a familiar tune.
The 80+ members of the group come not just from the Indianapolis area, but from Muncie, Bloomington, New Castle, Lafayette and Fort Wayne. Rehearsals are held at All Souls Unitarian Church, 5805 E. 56th St., every Thursday evening at 7 p.m. Every rehearsal includes group voice lessons and choreography training. Vocal coaches are brought in for additional rehearsals to educate and train our singers.
The group is sponsored in part by the Indiana Arts Commission and is recognized by the Indianapolis Business Journal as "one of the top 25 arts organizations in Central Indiana."
