INDIANAPOLIS, IN, APRIL 13, 2009 - Indianapolis' Capital City Chorus won first place in the East Central regional Sweet Adelines International annual competition, held Saturday, April 4, 2009, at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center, Covington, KY. With a total score of 653, Capital City took top honors and qualified to compete at the 2010 Sweet Adelines International Competition in Seattle, WA, October 19 - 23, 2010.
The Capital City Chorus, which was chartered over 53 years ago, was led by their directors, Molly Huffman, and Bev Miller, of Lafayette. Both are Master Directors and Certified International Faculty, hold leadership positions at regional and international levels, and are winners of the Region 4 Coach of the Year Award.
Capital City Chorus was also proudly represented in the quartet competition by three groups: Matchstix, Once In A Lifetime, and RingTones. Matchstix also won the Ruth Doll Novice Quartet Award, awarded to the highest scoring quartet having three or more members of a quartet whom have never competed before.
